Steam Reaches 8.5 Million Concurrent Users

At the end of 2014, Steam hit more than 8 million concurrent users, breaking a milestone for Valve’s distribution platform. In the last 48 hours, the record has been rewritten by surpassing 8.5 million concurrent users to start the new year. According to the stats page, the peak concurrent user is 8,512,401, which is the largest concurrent user so far. In light of this expansion, the 10 million mark will come soon.

According to the top games stats, Dota 2 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive are still the most popular titles on Steam. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim continues to maintain strong and Arma 3 is more popular than those big IPs such as Far Cry 4 and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

It should go without saying that Steam’s growth is impressive. Steam broke the 7 million user markin early December, 7.5 million user over the Christmas period and 8 million users at Summer Sale Encore Day, with an increase of nearly 14% during the month of December.
