The talented minds at Blizzard have been hard at work developing their upcoming team shooter, Overwatch and the official beta test is looming close ahead! Blizzard has officially announced that the closed beta will begin on October 27th for the Americas region where a small number of testers will receive regular access to the beta initially. However, as time progresses, additional players will gradually be added into the testing phase. The closed beta test phases will be opened to the Europe regions next, with the Asian regions receiving access to the test at “a later date.”
Blizzard has also announced that they will be conducting several Beta Test Weekends for an alternate, larger group of players. These tests will be used to determine the strength of the servers and to ensure that “they can withstand the assault.” These Beta Test Weekends will be offered to various parts of the world and will open shortly after BLizzCon ends.
The beta test will be accessible for the Battle.net desktop client for Windows users and only to those users who have opted in to the beta on their Battle.net account. Those users who are selected to participate in the test phase weekend will receive an email from Blizzard with further instructions.
Overwatch will mark the first new franchise for Blizzard in 17 years, it goes without saying that we cant wait to see the final product! The game does not currently have a release date but it is being developed for Mac and PC.
