During a recent Reddit AMA event the creator of the popular ARMA 2 and ARMA 3 mod, Battle Royale, announced that he had been working alongside Sony Online Entertainment to develop a mode for the upcoming zombie MMO, H1Z1. During the same AMA he told readers some of the challenges he faced during the original development of the Battle Royale mod, as well as some of the inspiration behind the new mode set to arrive with the release of H1Z1.
The beta event for H1Z1 begins on January 15th with the release of the Steam Early Access client, a client that is planned to feature the Battle Royale mod, however we have yet to hear if this mod will be available for free as micro-transactions to unlock new mods is already a confirmed feature for H1Z1.
Mitch Evans, a developer for Sony Online Entertainment, also had some additional things to say:
“You’ll likely be in a holding area, then when the match starts, you will appear in midair with a chute. We may eventually have the plane circling until the match starts, and [people] jumping out of the plane.”
H1Z1 is planned to launch in Early Access on January 15th with a PlayStation 4 launch planned later down the line. For the full Reddit AMA, click here.
