Everquest has been a legend when it comes to MMORPGs, and going on its 13th year in action, Everquest will finally break the subscription shackles that have detoured some players. Everquest has been a solid contender in the MMORPG arena for over a decade, and with the F2P announcement, is sure to extend their reigns. Along with the Free to Play announcement, there will also be some goodies that roll-out come March.

Everquest F2P

Thom Terrazas, Everquest Producer, stated in the Everquest F2P announcement,” think of it as Free to Play, Your Way. Recurring subscriptions, non-recurring subscriptions, Silver or Free memberships, item unlockers, and more. The game will now be setup to be flexible so that *you* can decide how much to pay, based on how much fun you’re having”. This is awesome news for people who have thought about giving this MMORPG a shot and should prove to keep the franchise running as strong as it has for the past 12 years (soon to be 13). The Everquest F2P shift is expected to take place on March 16th (Happy 13th birthday EQ!) and will also bring the following features with the shift:

Everquest F2P Roll-out Features:

  • New Items Within POK
  • F2P Mode
  • Improved Map Functionality
  • Wisps Will Be Shown On the Map
  • Bug Fixes

Along with these features, there will also be Welcome Packs that will give players a home ornament, weapon ornamentation (that players can use to customize their favorite weapon), experience potions, the ability to summon a unique mercenary, and Bayle Marks. It’s important that you don’t forget to check the claim window for your free perks in the Everquest F2P roll-out!

It’s exciting to see the EQ development team is still providing an amazing gaming experience for their dedicated followers and is still striving to go up and beyond for this legendary MMORPG. As Mr. Terrazas had mentioned, the Everquest F2P roll-out will not be entirely free, it merely means that players can choose to partake in the action if they don’t feel like paying for a subscription (with the F2P option being the less interactive, but free option). Nonetheless, it should bring a flood of new players to the game and the F2P Welcome Packs will definitely make many players happy!
