Testing for the upcoming Diablo 3 patch 2.1.2 has concluded and the Public Test Realm has been brought down. This means that the Diablo patch is the hit live servers this Tuesday after maintenance. Developers were stuck between two options in releasing the patch. Either they were to release patch 2.1.2. after the season roll over, in which players wouldn’t be able to access any new items for a few weeks after season 2 went live. Or they could launch patch 2.1.2 prior to Season 2, which would impact seasonal leaderboard progress. They chose the latter because, not giving seasonal players access to new items right away in Season 2 would take the excitement out of the start of a new season. Players will be able to adjust to the new changes and the impact on the existing leaderboards can be minimized.
