City of Titans is considered by Missing World Media to be the “spiritual successor for the superhero MMORPG City of Heroes.”
Currently still under-development, the MWM team set a goal of 320,000$ and with 24 days to go have already surpassed that goal with 388,980$ pledged. City of Titans is set in a world where there is always hope and centers around the traditional superhero ideals of truth, justice, freedom and honor. The one idea that seems to garner the excitement and hope of gamers is that City of Titans is “more than just a game or a revenue stream. It is a community, a home.” MWM goes further to say “[y]es, we are going to have a cash shop, but we’re going to hold very tightly to certain rules. 1: A good value for money. 2: No Pay To Win. 3: Something for Everyone. We’re going to want you to use it, but we’re going to want you to want to use it, too.” All of this sounds like a gamer’s dream, a possible dream; Creating the game using crowd-funding instead of having to get the approval of publishers or investors allows the dev. team to meet the gamer’s desires, creating the game for the love of the game.
The game itself is an intriguing concept as well. Players can choose to be a hero or a villain. Dynamic clashes are frequent between the two opposing sides, bringing the city on the brink of change. To learn more, check out the City of Titans Kickstarter page.
